Laura Ruel

Laura Ruel is an associate professor of design, user experience and interactive media in the Hussman School of Journalism and Media at UNC-Chapel Hill. She also is director of journalism for the Hussman School. Her applied research interests include Innovation in visual storytelling and user experience design. She conducts usability and eyetracking research to guide practitioners in their day-to-day, on-the-job decision-making about effective visual design choices. She has presented her eyetracking work and UX teaching methods at a number of professional conferences, Including the 2019 Association for Information Science & Technology conference in Melbourne, Australia and the 2015 Google IO Extended conference in Chapel Hill, NC.
