Who's Really in the Loop? AI vs. Humans in UX Research

Will AI take our jobs? That was a clickbait headline in 2023. Now it's old news. AI is coding themes and open ends, moderating studies, reviewing findings, and writing discussion guides and reports. AI is now taking on the role of analyst, assistant, and user. But can we trust the findings? Unfortunately, most information online is a cacophony of claims made by the companies selling the technology behind synthetic users and AI moderators. In this talk, Jeff will walk through the claims being made about AI in UX research and summarize the published literature and MeasuringU's own experiments in a scorecard on what AI can and can't do well, and why you still need to be in the loop.
